 Cerno investigate, assess, adjust and resolve insurance claims as well as carrying out risk surveys and sum insured reviews for insurers, brokers and self insureds. 

 With its nationwide network of office locations and its international partnerships, Cerno (formally MYI Freemans) is one of the largest loss adjusting organisations in Australia. Our Company operates primarily in the insurance-related claims and risk management market with expertise in the areas of property (commercial & personal), liability, marine, motor (including machinery), agriculture, construction & engineering claims assessment. Our 50 branches span from metropolitan locations to regional centres, offering services close to where our clients might need us.  

 

How do we help?

For most smaller and straightforward claims involving domestic or commercial property, insurance companies may be able to make a payment immediately.

However, for larger or more complicated claims, insurance companies may employ the skills and impartiality of a loss adjuster.

Loss adjusters are experts in many fields. In addition to a thorough knowledge of insurance and of the area in which they work, they can advise both the insurance company and the policyholder on repair and replacement techniques. After discussions with the policyholder, the loss adjuster reports to the insurance company enabling the company to process the claim without delay.

The loss adjuster will visit the policyholder, within days after submission of the claim form, to discuss the circumstances of the claim. The loss adjuster will check:

  • That the loss or damage falls within the terms of the insurance policy
  • That the sums insured on the policy are adequate
  • That the amounts being claimed are fair and reasonable
  • That all valid items of claim have been included and nothing omitted
  • Loss adjusters can often point to aspects of the claim which the policyholder may have overlooked.
  • They may coordinate repair or other needed services.

The loss adjuster reports his findings and recommendations to the insurance company. The company is then in possession of full facts on the matter and is able to make a decision.
